Instructional Media and Course Support Specialist

Position Purpose:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Instructional Media and Course Support Specialist to join our team. This role will support instructional media creation, post-development course review, accessibility alignment, and live-term faculty support for online and technology-enhanced courses. The ideal candidate will have experience or relevant training in creating and editing instructional media, reviewing courses for quality and usability, identifying and resolving course issues, and supporting faculty with instructional design updates during active terms.

Essential Job Functions:

• Media Creation: Edit videos, update captions, and create images and graphics to enhance course content. Experience with video editing tools and Adobe Creative Cloud applications is a plus.
• Post-Development Course Review: Review courses after development to identify and resolve routine broken links, copy-editing issues, LMS functionality concerns, and assessment setup issues, and identify or escalate third-party integration problems before and during course delivery.
• Accessibility and ADA Support: Review course materials and media for alignment with ADA and accessibility standards, including accessible formatting, captions, alternative text, readable document structure, and overall usability for students.
• Live-Term Faculty Support: Respond to faculty support requests and tickets related to instructional design and course delivery issues, including broken links, assessment updates, content revisions, accessibility concerns, and other changes needed during active terms.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with faculty, instructional designers, academic departments, and technology partners to support effective course delivery and address course-related needs.

Essential Job Requirements:

• Education:
• Bachelor's degree.

• Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of Brightspace or similar LMS platforms.
• Experience with development of on-campus, hybrid and online courses.
• Experience with video editing software and Adobe Creative Cloud applications.

Skills:

• Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to be flexible, quick, and agile in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with media creation tools, video editing, captioning, and/or graphic creation.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot routine course design, LMS, accessibility, and technical issues, with the judgment to escalate more complex concerns when appropriate.
• Strong faculty support skills, including the ability to respond professionally to support tickets and time-sensitive course requests.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with accessibility best practices for online course materials, instructional media, and LMS content.
• Relevant experience may be gained through employment, internships, student employment, academic projects, or other comparable settings.

The pay range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted amount the university reasonably expects to pay for this position. The final pay rate will not be below the lowest pay rate listed herein.
