Work-Based Learning Success Coach

Position Overview

Starting Salary Range is $57,512 - $60,445. The initial salary offer is commensurate with education and related work experience.

The Work-Based Learning (WBL) Success Coach is a student-centered professional who supports learners participating in internships, apprenticeships, clinical placements, job shadowing, cooperative education, and other experiential learning opportunities. The Success Coach guides students through each phase of work-based learning preparation, placement, participation, and completion while working closely with faculty, employers, and community partners to ensure successful outcomes.

This position promotes student persistence, career readiness, credential attainment, and employment success through coaching, resource navigation, employer engagement support, and ongoing case management throughout the student's work-based learning journey.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Student Coaching and Support

• Provide comprehensive coaching and case management to students participating in work-based learning programs.
• Assist students in developing academic, professional, and career goals aligned with their programs of study.
• Conduct individual and group coaching sessions focused on career readiness, workplace expectations, and professional skills.
• Monitor student progress and engagement throughout work-based learning experiences.
• Identify and address barriers to student success by connecting students with campus and community resources.
• Maintain regular communication with students to encourage persistence, retention, completion, and employment outcomes.
• Support students in developing professional documents, including resumes, cover letters, portfolios, and LinkedIn profiles.
• Prepare students for interviews and workplace onboarding processes.

Work-Based Learning Program Support

• Assist with the recruitment, onboarding, and tracking of students participating in internships, apprenticeships, and other experiential learning opportunities.
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of work-based learning programs and initiatives.
• Maintain accurate student records and documentation in institutional and program databases.
• Monitor required program milestones, training plans, evaluations, and completion requirements.
• Ensure compliance with institutional, state, federal, and grant-related requirements.

Employer and Community Engagement

• Serve as a liaison between students, employers, faculty, and community partners.
• Assist employers with student placement, onboarding, communication, and issue resolution.
• Conduct regular check-ins with employer partners to assess student performance and satisfaction.
• Support employer engagement activities, including networking events, career fairs, information sessions, and industry advisory meetings.
• Foster strong relationships with local businesses and industry partners to expand work-based learning opportunities.

Career Readiness Development

• Deliver workshops and presentations on career readiness topics, including communication, professionalism, teamwork, time management, and workplace etiquette.
• Assist students in understanding labor market opportunities and career pathways.
• Promote employability skills that align with workforce needs and employer expectations.
• Encourage students to engage in experiential learning opportunities that enhance career outcomes.

Data Management and Reporting

• Collect, maintain, and analyze program data related to student participation, retention, completion, credential attainment, and employment outcomes.
• Prepare reports and documentation as required by institutional leadership and funding agencies.
• Utilize technology platforms and student information systems to track progress and measure program effectiveness.
• Support assessment efforts and continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaboration and Outreach

• Collaborate with faculty, academic advisors, student services, workforce programs, and community stakeholders to support student success.
• Participate in campus committees, workforce initiatives, and special projects.
• Represent Lee College at community, workforce, education, and industry events.
• Support outreach efforts to increase student awareness of and participation in work-based learning opportunities.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities

Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Education, Counseling, Human Resources, Workforce Development, Business, Social Work, Student Affairs, or a related field.
• Two (2) years of experience in student success, advising, workforce development, career services, case management, employer engagement, or a related field.
• Experience working with diverse student populations.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems.

• Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with internships, apprenticeships, workforce development programs, or higher education career services.
• Experience managing grants or federally funded workforce initiatives.
• Knowledge of work-based learning best practices and industry engagement strategies.
• Familiarity with student information systems, CRM platforms, and workforce reporting tools.
