Required: Associate degree in Fire Science, Fire Administration, Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Technology or a closely related field, with a minimum of two years of professional experience in the fire service or a related emergency services field.

Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by the Human Resources Department.

Additional Information: Adjunct faculty positions are part-time and temporary, filled on a semester-by-semester basis depending on enrollment and program needs.

Position Summary:

Southeast New Mexico College is seeking applications for an Adjunct Instructor in Emergency Medical Technology (EMT) and Fire Science. The successful candidate will teach courses across both the Emergency Medical Technology and Fire Science areas of the program based on departmental needs. Courses may include BLS Clinical Preparations; Emergency Medical Technician Lecture, Laboratory, and Clinical; Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology for the EMS Provider; Firefighter I and II; Principles of Emergency Services; Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations; Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior; and Vehicle Extrication.

Adjunct faculty members are responsible for delivering curriculum, providing effective instruction, and assessing student learning in alignment with course outcomes and college standards. Courses may be offered in face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach assigned Fire Science and Emergency Medical Technology courses in accordance with approved syllabi, course objectives, and learning outcomes.
• Prepare and deliver instruction using appropriate and engaging instructional strategies.
• Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
• Communicate regularly with students and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
• Comply with college policies, procedures, and academic standards.
• Participate in required training and departmental meetings, as applicable.
