Part-time Faculty, Social Work, Public Health and Administration -Lakeland & Lorain CC Campuses

Summary of Position

Teach courses in the field of Social Work, delivering high-quality instruction that promotes student learning, engagement, and success. Provide timely feedback, maintain effective communication with students and university stakeholders, and foster a supportive learning environment aligned with the mission and values of Youngstown State University. Through innovative and student-centered teaching, the adjunct faculty member contributes to YSU’s commitment to inspiring lifelong learning, enhancing student futures, and enriching the communities it serves. Course assignments will be primarily at the Lorain and Lakeland locations. Must be able to provide regular in-person instruction as assigned.

Position Information

Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.

Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday. Teaching assignments may be remote or at various locations. Travel to Lakeland and Lorain is possible depending on assignment.

Qualifications and Competencies

Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: Current Ohio License in Social Work.

Sponsorship and/or Work Authorization Status: Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Minimum Qualifications: At least an earned master’s degree in social work; current Ohio license in social work; must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate or PhD in social work. Licensure at the Independent level (LISW/LISW-S).

Physical Requirements: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this position will perform sedentary work.

Sedentary: work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs may be defined as Sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other Sedentary criteria are met.
