Executive Director of Special Education

Primary Purpose:

Provides leadership and manages the District's special education program. Ensure that services are provided for special education students and individualized education plans are current to meet the needs of all students. Warrant compliance with all state, federal, and local requirements.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Doctoral degree preferred.

Master's degree in educational administration or related field.

Texas Principal Certificate preferred.

Certified instructional supervisor and appraiser in T-TESS upon hire.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness for special education students.

Knowledge of Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process.

Knowledge of federal and state special education law.

Ability to communicate with all levels of special needs students and their parents.

Ability to implement policy and procedures.

Ability to interpret data.

Ability to manage budget and personnel.

Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.

Experience:

Three years of central office special education leadership experience.

Three years as an administrator in the ARD committee meeting.

Salary: AP PG10 /225 days
Starting: $121,205
