Assistant Girls Basketball Coach

Position Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable assistant girls basketball coach to join our high school athletic program. Working directly under the Head Coach, you will help develop student-athletes' fundamental mechanics, mental strategy, and team dynamics while maintaining a supportive, disciplined culture compliant with OHSAA regulations.

• Player Development & Instruction: Assist in planning and executing daily practices, focusing on fundamental skill development, defensive principles, and offensive systems.
• Game Day Duties: Help formulate game strategies, scout opponents, manage bench decorum, and perform statistical tracking during competitions.
• Program Culture & Mentorship: Serve as a positive role model. Model and promote character, sportsmanship, academic accountability, and team unity.
• Feeder System Engagement: Support program-wide initiatives, including youth clinics, summer camps, and middle school player integration (Future Golden Bears).
• Communication & Operations: Maintain professional communication with student-athletes, parents, school staff, and the community. Assist with equipment inventory, facility setup, and travel logistics as needed.
• Compliance & Safety: Adhere to all Bryan City Schools, NWOAL, and OHSAA rules and regulations. Maintain current CPR/AED, First Aid, and required coaching certifications.

Qualifications

• Prior coaching experience at the high school, middle school, or club level preferred; competitive playing experience highly valued.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to pass all required background checks (FBI/BCI).
• Possession of (or ability to obtain) all required state coaching permits and certifications:

• CPR/AED Certification
• Sudden Cardiac Arrest (LPP) & Concussion Training
• Mental Health Training (OHSAA requirement)
