About this role

Position Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated HS Assistant Track & Field Coach to join our athletic program. Working under the direction of the Head Coach, you will help instruct student-athletes in event-specific techniques, physical conditioning, and race execution while fostering a safe, disciplined, and supportive environment compliant with OHSAA standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Event-Specific Instruction: Teach fundamental and advanced techniques across designated event groups (e.g., sprints, hurdles, distance, jumps, or throws), focusing on form, mechanics, starting blocks, and field event approaches.
  • Conditioning & Athlete Safety: Assist in designing and leading daily workouts, warm-up/cool-down routines, strength and endurance conditioning, and injury prevention protocols per OHSAA guidelines.
  • Practice & Meet Operations: Assist with running daily practices, event group rotations, timing workouts, preparing entries for dual meets and invitational seed sheets, setting up equipment, and officiating/coaching events during meets.
  • Character & Sportsmanship: Emphasize discipline, work ethic, teamwork, and respect both on the track and in the community.
  • Academic Oversight: Help monitor team members' academic standing to ensure continuous athletic eligibility.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Background in competitive track & field (high school, collegiate, or club coaching/competing).
  • Valid (or ability to obtain) OHSAA Pupil Activity Permit (PAP), including:

  • CPR/AED Certification
  • First Aid for Coaches
  • Concussion Training (NFHS / Ohio Dept. of Health)
  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest (Lindsay’s Law) Training
  • Student Mental Health Training

• Successful completion of FBI/BCI criminal background checks.
