JH Wrestling Coach

Position Overview We are seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Assistant Wrestling Coach to join our athletic program. Working under the direction of the Head Coach, you will help train student-athletes in technique, conditioning, and mental toughness while fostering a safe, disciplined, and supportive environment compliant with OHSAA standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Instruction: Teach fundamental and advanced wrestling techniques, including stance, takedowns, escapes, turns, and pin combinations.
• Conditioning & Safety: Lead weight-management guidance, physical conditioning, and mat practice while enforcing weight-control and skin-check protocols per OHSAA guidelines.
• Practice & Meet Prep: Assist with running daily practices, preparing tournament seed sheets, setting up mats, and coaching corners during dual meets and tournaments.
• Character & Sportsmanship: Emphasize discipline, work ethic, resilience, and respect on and off the mat.
• Academic Oversight: Help monitor team members' academic standing to ensure continuous eligibility.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Background in competitive wrestling (high school, collegiate, or club coaching/competing).
• Valid (or ability to obtain) OHSAA Pupil Activity Permit (PAP), including:

• CPR/AED Certification
• First Aid for Coaches
• Concussion Training (NFHS / Ohio Dept. of Health)
• Sudden Cardiac Arrest (Lindsay’s Law) Training
• Student Mental Health Training

• Successful completion of FBI/BCI criminal background checks.
