Position: General Food Worker
Start Date: 2026/2027 School Year

Job description:

• $19.63 Hourly
• Shift: 9:00 am - 1:00pm
• High School General Food Workers receive a complimentary breakfast and lunch.
• Assist in the preparation of food, operating equipment such as meat slicers, mixers, pressurized steam jackets, in addition to being able to properly utilize hand instruments to cut and chop foods.
• Operate cash register – The employee must be able to operate a cash register in a quick and efficient manner. The employee must also be able to make correct change accurately.
• Assist in the preparation of food production sheets. This enables the Food Service Director and Cook to accurately forecast the number of portions to prepare in the future.
• Follow a recipe in the preparation of food. This includes being able to increase and / or decrease the number of portions to be prepared.
• General sanitation – including personal hygiene, sanitizing of equipment, counters, etc.
• Follow safety rules – keeping foods at correct temperatures, wearing proper safety equipment, putting away and storing food correctly.
• Keep a daily record of foods used for inventory control.
• Assist in general clean-up of kitchen including the washing of pots and pans.
• Portioning food as per the recipe and / or food production order.
• Present food in an appetizing manner to the students.

Terms of Employment:

• School Term. Salary and benefits per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the
Carlynton School District and the Carlynton Federation of Teachers, AFT Pennsylvania
Local #2120, AFT-PA, AFL-CIO, Secretarial-Cafeteria-Aides Unit.
