After Care Counselor

Rockwern Academy's Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) is looking for a part-time Aftercare counselor beginning immediately for the 2026 - 2027 school year.

An exceptional student-teacher ratio allows us to value each student as a true individual, discovering what gives them their inner spark. The school serves toddlers through eighth graders.

Who are you?

Aftercare staff must be at least 18 years of age. We have openings for our early childhood (12 months through pre-k) students during the school year (starting immediately and ending May 26, 2027). The hours are Monday and Thursday, 3:30 - 6:00 PM, and Friday, 3:30 - 5:00 PM.

Objective

To support Rockwern Academy's mission by providing a nurturing play-based education to children, maintaining open lines of communication with parents and other staff, and basing expectations, practice, and behavior on a high degree of professionalism.

Reporting Relationship

The position reports to the ECEC Director.

Responsibilities

1. Help create and maintain a safe, organized, fair, effective, and inviting classroom that reflects mindfulness of students' physical, social, and intellectual development and needs

2. Assist with classroom behavior in age-appropriate ways

3. Greet children daily as they enter the classroom; demonstrate respect and empathy for all children and parents

4. Joyfully engage in activities, both indoors and outdoors

5. Maintain confidentiality at all times

6. Treat children, staff, and parents with respect

7. Demonstrate commitment to teamwork and collegiality by helping others and accepting suggestions for improvement
