Behavior Specialist

The position of a Behavior Specialist is available at East Central ISD for the 2026-2027 school year. All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in these positions must apply online through Frontline via the district website. POSITION FUNCTION/PURPOSE: The Behavior Specialist will collaborate with educators to please and ensure implementation of behavior related services for students with disabilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide staff consultation, support and training regarding tier 3 behavioral needs.
  • Assist in analyzing and interpreting collected data (FBA, ABC, Daily Behavior Report Card, Frequency and Duration).
  • Model research based classroom and individual behavioral interventions for students with disabilities.
  • Create and support systems for student crisis prevention and intervention, including incident debriefs.
  • Attend and provide training and staff development on evidence and research based behavioral interventions.
  • Maintain oversight for Tier 3 behavior programming, professional development and staff coaching.
  • Provide on campus coaching, feedback and consultation with staff.
  • Provide training in de-escalation, physical management/restraint.
  • Facilitate district work to prevent and reduce disciplinary disproportionality.
  • Liaison between school, parents and community organizations/agencies.
  • Liaison between school, staff and district consultants.
  • Member of the District Behavior Team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality consistent with federal, state and local requirements.
  • Perform duties in a professional, positive, ethical and responsible manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certificate:
Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or Master's Degree in Special Education/Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology
OR Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) - Preferred
Minimum 3 years of school experience � preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of research related to positive behavioral interventions and support
Knowledge of regulations set forth by Texas Education Agency, District Policies, State and Federal Regulations
Basic computer skills
Ability to provide excellent customer service and to work cooperatively with students, staff and families
Strong organizational skills, both written and oral
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong written and oral communication

WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; maintain safety through physical restraint; and assist non-ambulatory students. Exposure to biological hazards. Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job. Frequent district-wide travel.

PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: 210 days-basis
SALARY: Based on 2026-2027 Classroom Teacher Salary scale, plus stipend
