Job Title: Custodian

Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Head Custodian

Pay Grade: 3

Dept. /School: Facilities

Days: 247

Primary Purpose:

To provide a safe, clean, attractive and efficiently maintained building for students, and teachers to learn and develop scholastically.

Qualifications:

To demonstrate the aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned responsibilities

Experience: None

Reports to: Head custodian

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Responsible for opening and/or closing the building
• Responsible for controlling the temperature in the building
• Responsible for the general cleanliness of all areas of the of the building NOT just assigned areas
• Cleans classrooms and restrooms daily as assigned
• Makes minor building repairs as he/she is capable of doing
• Keeps grounds free of trash
• Moves furniture or equipment within the building as required
• Assist in the cleanup of cafeteria and kitchen daily
• Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands/ Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional prolonged or irregular hours

Equipment Used:

General cleaning equipment to include but not limited to: Brooms, mops, ringers, dust mops, buffers, extractors, wet/dry vacs, ladders ect.
