2026 - 2027 Clinical Student Teacher and Classroom Observation

Welcome to Fort Worth ISD!

Only requests from current college, university, or Educator Preparation Program students will be processed. Please only apply if your institution/program has requested Clinical Student Teaching or Classroom Observation hours with Fort Worth ISD.

FWISD collaborates with institutions, colleges, universities, and Educator Preparation Programs by providing clinical and observation hours for their education candidates. We are thrilled you considered taking the next step in your career with our district. Clinical Student Teachers and Classroom Observers have the opportunity to observe all grade levels in a variety of content areas.

Clinical/Observation Process:

Classroom Observers

Fort Worth ISD welcomes classroom observers during the fall and spring semesters, providing future educators the opportunity to learn from experienced teachers and explore FWISD as a student teaching and employment destination.

Eligibility

You must be enrolled in:

• A teacher preparation program at an accredited college or university, or
• An approved alternative certification program.

Placement Requests

• Placements are limited and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Requests must be submitted through Talent Management.
• Requests submitted directly to campuses or teachers will not be accepted.
• Summer observation placements are not available.

Observation Request Deadlines

• Fall Semester: October 1
• Spring Semester: March 1

Getting Started

To request an observation placement, you must:

• Be included on a roster submitted by your Educator Preparation Program (EPP), or
• Submit a request letter from your EPP to observations@fwisd.org.

Complete:

• The Clinical Student Teacher and Classroom Observation Application (click red Apply button above)
• The Observation Placement Request Form

Next Steps

• Watch for two forms sent via email: the Acknowledgment Form and Background Clearance Form.
• Background checks may take 7 to 10 business days. Prompt submission is recommended.
• Once cleared, you will receive a Clearance Letter by email. Bring this letter on your first day of observation.
• Please note that the letter is available for download for 10 days only and can be downloaded only when you first open the email. Once access expires, you will need to contact observations@fwisd.org to request a new copy.
• Placement details will be emailed after your background check is approved and a placement is secured.

Important Information

• Specific campus or teacher requests cannot be accommodated.
• Once assigned, observation placements cannot be changed.
