About this role
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Perform daily cleaning and service of buses and vehicles to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency of school vehicles.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent desired
Special Knowledge/Skills: (May be required after hiring)
B-CDL license with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements
Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Annual physical exam
School bus driver certificate
Minimum Experience:
1 year as a technician or bus driver
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Perform routine daily service as directed including checking tire air pressure, checking oil and other fluid levels, wash and clean buses and all school vehicles both inside and out. Fill tires and replaces fluids as needed.
- Fuel buses and maintain accurate records of use.
- Maintain a program of preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff.
- Available to drive routes, know stops, and is able to maintain time schedule.
- Respond to needs related to job responsibilities.
- Follow safety codes and standards.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, responsible, and serve as role model for all district staff.
- Keep informed of and comply with all state and district policies and regulations concerning primary job functions.

Mental Demands:
Reading; ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data.
Ability to concentrate in noisy situations.
Ability to work with children of all ages.
Ability to maintain emotion under stress.
Physical Demands:
Moderate walking, standing, bending/stooping, frequent kneeling/squatting, lifting, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, overhead reaching, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
Environment:
Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, exhaust fumes, gasoline and diesel fuel, toxic chemicals and materials; work in tight spaces and in uncomfortable positions. Work alone. Frequent district-wide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours, and possible weekend work. Ability to conduct on-site inspections of all vehicles for safety and maintenance operations.
