Maintenance Engineer I

JOB TITLE: Maintenance Engineer I PAY LEVEL: Auxiliary 4

REPORTS TO: Maintenance Lead CALENDAR: 261 days/year

DEPT/SCHOOL: Facility Services Department WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Non-Exempt

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Assume responsibility for the safe condition of assigned facilities, including repairs to doors, windows, ceiling tile & grid, floor coverings, toilet stalls, lockers, hardware, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of three years experience in general or specialized maintenance experience.
• Technical training/certification preferred.
• Meet minimum physical requirements. (Pre-employment examination required)
• Valid Driver’s License

DUTIES:

• Examine assigned facilities for purpose of general maintenance.
• Enter and complete work orders as requested.
• Responsible for safe condition of assigned facilities.
• Must have regular and consistent attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EQUIPMENT USED:

Power tools (drill, saw, etc.), hand tools, welder (gas and electric air), shop tools (band saw, table saw), ladders, lifts.

Continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and odors. Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards. Work around moving objects or vehicles.
