Communications Specialist

Harts Bluff ISD is seeking a Temporary Communication Specialist to help share district news, information, and stories with employees, families, students, and the community. This position will assist with district communication channels and create clear, timely, and engaging content highlighting students, staff, programs, and school activities.

This is a temporary position expected to end in June 2027.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

• Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or related field preferred
• Relevant communications, social media, photography, writing or school district experience may substitute for formal education

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to write clearly for a variety of audiences
• Basic knowledge of social media platforms
• Basic photography, video and graphic design skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents and community members
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and use good judgment

Major Responsibilities and Duties

• Assist with district communications to employees, parents and the community.
• Write and edit news stories, announcements, newsletters, website content and other district communications.
• Create and schedule content for district social media accounts.
• Maintain and update content on the district website.
• Help tell positive stories about Harts Bluff ISD students, employees, programs and accomplishments.
• Assist campuses and departments with communication needs.
• Help maintain consistent district messaging and branding.
• Assist with media requests, news releases and other external communications as directed.
• Support communication during emergencies or other situations requiring timely information.
• Attend district and campus events as needed, including occasional evening or weekend activities.
• Maintain organized files of district photos, videos and communication materials.
• Perform other communications-related duties as assigned.

Experience

Communications, public relations, social media, journalism, photography, marketing or related experience preferred but not required.
