Generic - Acceleration Tutor

Compensation: $30.00/per Hour (Maximum 18 hours per week)
Shift Type: Part-Time Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Acceleration Tutor to plan, develop, and implement an effective acceleration program for at-risk students in a way that includes the best use of research findings, time, space, available technology, financial and community resources, so that student achievement will be maximized.

*This position is funded with Compensatory Education and Title l funds. Continued funding of this position will be based on the availability of funding sources.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree, with appropriate state certification for subject and level assigned

Preference will be given to applicants who:

• demonstrate a cognitive understanding of the subject matter and pedagogical skills in his/her teaching field
• have the ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
• understand the various learning styles and show competence in developing and delivering instruction appropriate to students’ developmental needs
• exhibit effective communication skills and techniques, including verbal, nonverbal, and media communication that are sensitive to student differences and needs
