Telephone Operator - Part Time - Operations and Maintenance

LOCATION OF POSITION: Fairport, NY 14450; Operations and Maintenance
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Month Position, Part Time - 5 Hours per day (11:00am - 4:00pm)
STARTING DATE: As Soon As Possible
SALARY RANGE: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour

• DUTIES:
• Process all incoming switchboard calls in a courteous, customer-focused manner.
• Crosstrain with other Operations & Maintenance clerical staff to manage office duties and fill in where needed.
• Process work orders for maintenance and technology requests.
• Complete other work assigned by Assistant Superintendent for Finance & Operations or designee.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Civil Service eligibility as a Telephone Operator: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma plus six (6) months paid full time or its part time equivalent clerical experience involving answering a telephone to relay calls or take messages.

Note: Where education is lacking, clerical experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis; there is no education substitute for the required experience.

• Excellent attendance and punctuality in meeting the work schedule, and willing to work extra hours as needed.
• Ability to handle entry-level clerical duties, possess entry-level computer skills and have a willingness to train to enhance all job-related skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and as a team member.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills .
• Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).
