Elementary Math Tutor

Position Overview

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Math Tutors to provide targeted small-group instruction to elementary students in Grades 3�5. The tutor will work with students who need additional support strengthening their math skills, increasing their confidence, and improving their performance on the STAAR Mathematics assessment.

This is an excellent opportunity for current or retired teachers who enjoy working with students and want to make a meaningful difference through targeted, small-group instruction.

Responsibilities

• Provide engaging, targeted math instruction to students in Grades 3�5.
• Work with small groups of approximately 3�5 students.
• Identify and address individual student math needs through focused instruction and practice.
• Support students in developing skills in areas such as:
• Number concepts and computation
• Place value and operations
• Fractions, decimals, and whole numbers
• Problem-solving and mathematical reasoning
• Measurement and data
• Multi-step problem solving
• Test-taking strategies and STAAR math skills

• Use instructional materials and resources provided by the school.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on student needs.
• Provide positive encouragement and help students develop confidence in mathematics.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and/or campus staff as needed to support student success.
• Maintain a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment.

Schedule & Location

• Tutoring will take place during the regular school day.
• Days and times are flexible and will be determined based on:
• Student schedules
• Student instructional needs
• Tutor availability
• Campus scheduling needs

• Student groups will be created to accommodate both student schedules and tutor availability.
• Tutoring will take place on the school campus.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and STAAR expectations is preferred.
• Strong communication and classroom-management skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students.
• A passion for helping students grow academically and gain confidence in reading.

Compensation

• Paid hourly
• Pay for Retired/Certified teachers: $50 per hour
• Pay for Non-certified tutors: $25 per hour
• Preference given to certified teachers
