JOB TITLE: Substitute Custodian
DUTY DAYS: Varies
PAY GRADE: $10.00/Hour

Primary Purpose:

To assist in keeping the building and grounds clean, safe, and sanitary.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • To sweep floors and remove scuff marks from floors in rooms and halls in assigned area.
  • To remove dust from desks, counters, and table tops in assigned area facilities.
  • To mop, wax and buff floors as needed and directed including restroom facilities.
  • To fill dispensers with towels, soaps and toilet tissue.
  • To clean windows and mirrors as needed.
  • To replace broken windows when needed.
  • To replace light bulbs as needed.
  • To turn lights out as required to conserve energy.
  • To dispose of paper, garbage and trash.
  • To remove all spots and stains as necessary.
  • To wash, dry and dust cleaning equipment after use.
  • To set up chairs and tables as needed for meetings and other activities.
  • To Know location and use of all fire fighting equipment.
  • To lock doors and windows to assure building security before leaving.
  • To report to assistant head custodian or head custodian any maintenance problem noticed.
  • To report to assistant head custodian or head custodian any unauthorized people who may be in building after building is closed.
  • To perform other duties as assigned by the head custodian, assistant head custodian, or supervising administrator.

Mental Demands:

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal); maintain emotional control under stress; interpret policy, procedures and data; coordinate district functions.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Frequent prolonged and irregular hours; Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer; steady phone interactions; moderate standing, walking, and bending.
