Part-Time Lunch Monitor

Job Title: Part-Time Lunch Monitor Wage/Hour Status: Non Exempt
Reports to: Assistant Principal Starting Hourly Rate: $14.17/hr
Dept./School: Elementary School

Primary Purpose:
Part-time lunch monitor during the daily 2-3 hour lunch time block.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
High school diploma

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work well with children
Ability to communicate effectively

Experience:
Some experience working with children

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Support:

• Monitoring students in the cafeteria during their lunch time
• Helping maintain an inviting and safe eating environment
• Assisting student opening lunch containers as needed
• Helping students find appropriate seating
• Communicating with other school staff and campus administration when needed
• Assisting with monitoring of all children during lunch recess on the playground

• Student Management:
• Help manage behavior of students. This includes intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive or dangerous student behavior as needed.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting.
