Function / Position Summary

The TAT Psychologist serves as a key member of the Tactical Assessment Team (TAT), working collaboratively with school administrators, educators, and support staff to address and support students' behavioral, emotional, and social needs. This position focuses on providing support, instruction, and technical assistance with progress monitoring; consultation, prevention, intervention, and evaluation as a member of the Tactical Assessment Team. The TAT Psychologist plays a vital role in reviewing threat assessments, supporting the Pathway to Bloom 45-day diagnostic intervention program, and assisting schools in implementing appropriate supports and interventions.

Job Duties / Responsibilities

• Prioritize and respond effectively to Tactical Assessment Team referrals for students.
• Participate on the Tactical Assessment Team, completing safety assessments, student evaluations, transition plans, and creating site-based intervention and support plans.
• Collaboratively develop and support the implementation of effective, research-based strategies and training materials to assist building teams in addressing students' social-emotional and behavioral needs through the MTSS framework. This includes facilitating and coaching staff in the creation and implementation of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and safety plans to promote consistent, proactive, and data-driven interventions.
• Collaborate with Bloom Academy staff to provide consultation, support, and follow-up services for students transitioning to or from the program, including direct student contact when necessary.
• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support to Bloom students and staff as needed.
• Collaborate with the building problem-solving team, including parents and outside agencies, when a student exhibits behavior challenges in the school environment.
• Coach teams on collecting and analyzing data during the implementation of interventions and behavior intervention plans, and make recommendations for adjustments to the supports and strategies being implemented.
• Participate in special education evaluations as needed, as part of the Tactical Assessment Team.
• Conduct observations, interviews, support implementation fidelity checks, and develop follow-up plans/procedures.
• Develop and guide the implementation of a district-wide plan to monitor and review student placements, ensuring they support ongoing growth in teaching and learning. The plan will include a clear vision, defined goals, and an implementation timeline, aligned with the District's Strategic Plan.
• Provide training in the use of positive behavior supports, intervention techniques, relationship building, restorative practices, and the use of MTSS interventions to building crisis teams.
• Collaborate with community resources to provide families with outside resources.
• Maintain CPI/Ukeru training certification and apply trained strategies to safely support students during crisis situations, as necessary, as well as lead or support training of staff across the district, when indicated.
• Advocate for students with school staff and administration.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

• Master's Degree in School Psychology. (Required)
• Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Psychologist endorsement. (Required)
• Bilingual - Spanish/English (written/verbal). (Preferred)

Experience / Knowledge

• Knowledge of School Psychologist policies and procedures.
• Leadership skills in working with individuals and groups (i.e., initiating individual or group discussion, listening, clarifying, and facilitating interactions and sharing ideas).
• Skills in socio-environmental analysis and diagnosis of students with social/emotional concerns.
• Knowledge of current state laws and regulations regarding proficiency standards.
• Previous School Psychologist Experience and training in trauma-informed care and restorative practices (preferred).

Terms of Employment

• Nine-month position (184 work days).
• Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education and The Elgin Agreement.
• The starting salary for this role is $60,689.
