SPED Program Specialist

Primary Purpose:

To provide leadership, coordination, and support in the development and implementation of special education programs and services across the district. The SPED Program Specialist works collaboratively with campus staff, service providers, and administrators to ensure compliance with regulations and promote best practices for students with disabilities.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

• Master's degree in Special Education or related field (preferred)
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement
• Minimum of three years of teaching experience in Special Education
• Strong knowledge of IDEA, ARD procedures, and program development

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Knowledge of instructional and behavioral strategies
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Data analysis and problem-solving ability
• Ability to manage multiple tasks

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide support to special education teachers and staff on instruction and compliance
• Monitor implementation of IEPs
• Facilitate ARD/IEP meetings and assist with complex cases
• Analyze data for instructional planning and progress monitoring
• Support inclusion practices and specialized programs
• Provide staff development and training
• Collaborate with service providers and administrators
• Monitor compliance through walkthroughs and audits
• Assist with hiring and mentoring new staff
• Serve as a liaison between the department and campuses
• Perform other duties as assigned

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent prolonged and irregular hours. Frequent districtwide travel.

*Minimum Salary $66,000 for fully certified

*Stipend $4,000
*Salary is commensurate with experience
*Works 195 Day Calendar
* Please note that this role requires in-person attendance and is not eligible for remote work.
