Bilingual Teacher - Leave Replacement - SES

Southampton Elementary School is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and qualified Bilingual Teacher to serve as a leave replacement. The ideal candidate will foster a warm, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment while delivering rigorous instruction in both English and Spanish across core subjects.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum Delivery

• Plan and execute engaging, standards-aligned lessons using a dual-language / bilingual curriculum model.
• Deliver foundational literacy instruction in Spanish and English, building reading comprehension, writing, and phonics skills in both languages.
• Adapt learning materials and differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learner profiles, including English Language Learners (ELLs) and students with IEPs/504 plans.
• Integrate culturally responsive practices that celebrate students' backgrounds and language identities.

Classroom Community & Support

• Maintain a well-structured, supportive, and emotionally safe classroom culture.
• Utilize positive behavior management strategies consistent with school-wide practices.
• Assess student progress regularly using formative and summative tools; analyze data to adjust daily instruction.

Collaboration & Professional Engagement

• Partner with the grade-level team, dual-language specialists, and support staff to ensure cohesive instruction.
• Maintain clear, frequent, and culturally supportive communication with families regarding student growth and well-being.
• Follow established lesson plans while maintaining flexibility to adapt to student needs throughout the duration of the replacement period.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Bilingual Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Certification: State Teaching Certification in Elementary Education (K–6 or equivalent) with a Bilingual Education (Spanish) endorsement/extension.
• Experience: Prior teaching or student-teaching experience in a bilingual/dual-language elementary classroom strongly preferred.
• Skills: Strong understanding of second-language acquisition theory, early literacy development, and positive classroom management techniques.
