Job Title:: Virtual Lab School Support Specialist

Primary Purpose:: Manage virtual school students in a computer lab setting. Manage student behavior and lab procedures to ensure a productive learning environment.
Qualifications/Skills:: Education/Certification:

• Minimum of 48 college hours or high school diploma/equivalent plus pass a District Assessment.
• Educational Aide Certification.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Ability to work and communicate with high school students and adults effectively.
• High level of comfort with technology, including online learning environments.

Major Duties and
Responsibilities:: Instructional Support:

• Adhere to TEA and the district's policies and procedures.
• Take daily attendance each period.
• Monitor student progress in virtual courses, including daily monitoring, printing and analyzing progress reports.
• Communicate student behavior and course progress concerns to appropriate school personnel.
• Communicate and collaborate with virtual teachers
• Assist students in the computer lab.
• Assist in communicating with parents.

• Perform related duties as required.

Equipment Used:: Computer and various office equipment.
Working Conditions:: Mental Demands:

• Maintain emotional control under stress.
• Work with frequent interruptions.
• This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public.

Physical Demands:

• Repetitive hand motions.
• Prolonged use of the computer.
• Frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling.
• Moving small stacks of textbooks, boxes, equipment and other campus equipment.
