Salary: $67,469.00-$77,881.00 (or per the 2026-2027 schedule)

• QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Valid Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or
• American Red Cross.
• Valid State driver's license.
• Fifteen (15) hours in courses such as care and prevention of athletic injuries, anatomy,
• physiology, nutrition, counseling, and or similar courses, preferred.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The Sports Trainer will be able to demonstrate an ability to perform the following functions regarding
athletic injuries: prevention, assessment, treatment (including first aid), reconditioning.
Knowledge of and ability to use word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge
of research, current trends, and best practices in athletic injuries. Demonstrate skills in human
interaction and conflict resolution. Demonstrate ability to work well with people. Demonstrate
skills in handling constituent problems and concerns with sensitivity and tact in handling
sensitive and confidential information. Ability to plan, organize and prioritize. Ability to
analyze, interpret and use data in decision-marking. Ability to make decisions with minimum
supervision. Ability to compose correspondence and prepare reports in an articulate manner. Ability
to tolerate and deal with high stressful situations.

SUPERVISES: None

POSITION GOALS:
To administer an effective conditioning program for athletes, manage the functions in dealing with the prevention and treatment of athletic injuries, supervise the training of athletes involved in school sports and student athletic training activities, and develop, monitor, and implement a successful preventative and injury treatment program.

• PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with the Designated Supervisor in the development of an injury treatment and prevention
• program.
• Coordinate, in conjunction with the Designated Supervisor, a sports physical program for all
• sports/genders with an appropriate health facility.
• Provide leadership and direction for assigned areas of responsibility.
• Maintain an inventory of instructional training aids and athletic training supplies needed for
• the program.
• Responsible for the care, cleaning, and securing of all school and District athletic training
• property.
• Make and/or assist with arrangements for scheduling athletic physical exams for sports teams.
• Report all major injuries to the Designated Supervisor and Head Coach within the required time
• limits.
• Consult with the physician treating the injury as to the appropriate methods of treatment for
• the injury.
• Develop and supervise appropriate rehabilitation programs for athletes under the direction of
• physicians.
• Consult with the head coach as to the ability of an injured student athlete to participate and
• the treatment being administered.
• Assist and advise the coaching staff regarding injury prevention, conditioning program, and
• selection and care and fitting of protective equipment.
• Help complete and file insurance claim forms in a timely manner.
• Abide by and enforce School Board and Florida High School Athletic Association policies on
• tobacco, alcohol, and drugs.
• Schedule and conduct, in conjunction with the head coach, training for student athletes on
• injury prevention and proper conditioning for individual sports.
• Travel with athletic teams to assist at sporting events and be present for offseason, summer,
• preseason conditioning, and in-season practices. Stay until the last student leaves from that
• activity.
• Administer First Aid/CPR/AED as needed for illness, injury, or life-threatening emergencies per
• certification training guidelines.
• Always promote the District's interest in increasing student achievement by working with the
• educational interests of students in mind.
• Maintain positive communication with colleagues, community members, parents, and students to
• promote an increase in community engagement in education.
• Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement by valuing learning and making
• a commitment to quality.
• Have a flexible work schedule that permits the workday and assignment to vary depending on the
• season/sport.
• Maintain professional relationships with all personnel connected with athletic events.
• Exhibit interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member.
• Always maintain the highest level of professional and ethical conduct.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the designated supervisor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium work. Position requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Ability to stand for long periods of time, have good mobility skills, and be able to walk long distances. Exposure Category: Will have close contact with patients and is likely to be in contact with blood and body fluids.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:12 months, 8.0 hours per day. Salary to be based on the Board approved Salary Schedule. The position is contingent upon need.

CLASSIFICATION: Instructional
EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Designated Supervisor.
