Substitute Teacher/Aide - 2026-2027 School Year

Candidates will be notified via email if they have been selected to be a substitute in Tomball ISD. Substitute applications are processed on an as needed basis. Submitting an application does not guarantee employment. Please review the application requirements before submitting. Incomplete applications will not be processed.

Application Requirements:

In order to be employed as a district substitute, the following application requirements must first be met. Please read and carefully consider your willingness to complete these steps before applying:

• At least 1 recent supervisor listed as a reference.
• An uploaded transcript/diploma is required to move forward.

Substitute Expectations:

Substitute candidates must possess effective communication and technology skills. Clear verbal and written communication in English, regular use of phones, and computer proficiency with email and Internet are essential during the application process, when accepting substitute assignments, and for future success in classroom environments. Please consider these expectations before applying.

Professional Substitute (Teacher):

Requires 60 or more college hours verified via an official college transcript.

• Provide students with appropriate learning activities in the academic subject area.
• Carry out the absent teacher's prepared lesson plans and any special duties assigned to the absent teacher (bus duty, hall duty, lunch/recess duty, etc.).
• Use the absent teacher's classroom discipline plan and give specific directions about desired behavior.
• Consult with the administration and/or staff to resolve any questions/concerns.
• Comply with all building and Human Talent procedures and schedules.
• Provide a summary for the absent teacher at the end of the day of work completed and any special situations encountered.

Paraprofessional Substitute (Instructional Aide):

Requires 48 or more college hours verified via an official college transcript OR High School Diploma/GED and have met formal academic assessment requirements.

• Carry out the absent paraprofessional/aide's duties as assigned by the classroom teacher.
• Consult with the teacher to resolve any questions/concerns.
• Comply with all building and Human Talent procedures and schedules.
