NUTRITION SERVICES SUBSTITUTE

VACANCY: The Valley View Public School District is seeking individuals to fill a part-time, Nutrition Services Substitute position for the remainder of the school year.
JOB SUMMARY: Nutrition Services Substitutes are sent to schools in the district when the regularly assigned food service staff members are unavailable for work. They are assigned work by the District Nutrition Services Office, and report to and are supervised by the Nutrition Services manager of the school to which they are assigned. Duties include, but are not limited to: food preparation, serving of food, washing pots and pans, and kitchen clean up at the end of meal service.

QUALIFICATIONS: The Nutrition Services Substitute must possess the physical ability to perform a wide variety of food service related tasks and must be willing to perform a variety of job assignments. They must be in good health, possess excellent customer service skills, good work habits, and be a team player. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The work year follows the school attendance calendar. Substitutes are called on an "as needed" basis. Work assignments will range from zero to five days in a given week. The hours are generally 3.5 to 4.5 hours per day. Substitutes must be able to work in all 19 of the district's schools. Permanent part time positions in the Nutrition Services department are filled from the Nutrition Services substitute pool of staff members. Being hired as a Nutrition Services Substitute does not guarantee a future permanent part time position in the department.
