Varsity Head Girls Softball Coach

Reports to: Director of Athletics

Qualifications:

  • Licensed teacher preferred but not required. Coaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the sport/Participation experience.
  • Valid Pupil Activity Permit through the Ohio Department of Education.
  • CPR/First Aid, Concussion Training, Sportsmanship Training, Mental Health Training
  • BCI/FBI Background Check.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Create, monitor, and develop off season conditioning and lifting programs.
  • Develop and connect with youth and middle school programs throughout the year
  • Organization of all necessary pre-season, in-season, and post-season paperwork.
  • Attend OHSAA rules on-line or in person meetings.
  • Attend pre-season parent information meetings as well as develop communication networks with parents.
  • Develop a program to aid athletes' connection for collegiate opportunities.
  • Organizing staff to attend clinics and chance to obtain information on different sport philosophies and coaching techniques.
  • Attending and promoting programs through county and league coaches meetings. Monitoring student-athletes academic progress in and out of season.
  • Develop, enforce, share, & communicate team rules, goals, and expectations to players and parents throughout the year.
  • Commit to participating in the Sailors-4-Sailors program that promotes inter-sport support and pride.
  • Become a member of the Vermilion Athletic Booster Club.
  • Prioritize to attend and help at Booster Meetings and functions.
  • Enter all necessary line-ups and pre-competition paperwork on time.
  • Develop a strong daily and season practice program that is organized, age, and skill appropriate.
  • Responsible for supervision of all your athletes during and after all competitions and practices until the student-athlete safely leaves school grounds.
  • Conduct self in a fair and patient manner. Provide your coaching staff and athletes with a strong role model of enthusiasm and sportsmanship.
  • Create and maintain consistent communication with the Director of Athletics in and out of season.
  • Utilize the use of technology within your coaching and in the promotion of your program within the school designated athletic website.
  • Record all inventory, place of storage, and maintain care for all sport specific equipment and uniforms.
  • Keep and report accurate records of all fundraising and budgeting for your sport to the Director of Athletics.
  • Provide a list of prioritized needs for the upcoming season to the Director of Athletics.
  • Report all end of season records and awards to Director of Athletics and Yearbook Advisor . ? Work with the Director of Athletics to organize the end of season awards banquet.
  • Responsible for staff evaluation and coordinating the end of season meeting with the Director of Athletics.
  • Work with the Director of Athletics to develop a future opponent schedule that reflects the level of the program.
  • The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district.
  • Assumes other assignments, duties, or responsibilities assigned by the Director of Athletics and/or designee.

Evaluation: Job performance is evaluated according to the policy provisions adopted by the Vermilion Athletic Department
