Position: Custodial Assistant - 2nd Shift - Full Time 12 Months (Posting number 2627-3941)
Location: Spry Middle School
Start Date: October 14, 2026
Salary: As per current CCMA Contract

Position Summary:
This is a custodial position involving performance of cleaning and minor maintenance and repair tasks in the upkeep of building interiors and exteriors for a department, agency, hospital, or school. Work involves application of simple routines and procedures in accomplishing cleaning tasks, and involves application of minimal trade skills when performing maintenance and repair tasks.

Must meet the requirements of Monroe County Civil Service title of Custodial Assistant:

• Ability to supervise assigned cleaners, as needed, to meet district standards for building cleanliness
• Performs standard cleaning duties of sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming of floors and carpets, of washing and dusting office and school furniture and bathroom fixtures, and of replenishing dispensers with disposable paper products
• Performs simple service and repair work to furniture, and electrical and mechanical equipment, such as tightening loose nuts and bolts, unplugging defective electrical cords, replacing light bulbs, replacing washers
• Writes work orders for maintenance and repair jobs
• Working knowledge of building cleaning procedures, materials, and equipment, cleansing agents and proper application
• Working knowledge of cleaning and mowing equipment operation and proper safety measures
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions, especially as printed on cleansing agents and mechanical equipment
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing
• Ability to make minor maintenance repairs
• Ability to pay attention to safety when using cleansing agents and electrical and mechanical equipment
• Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position
• Ability to make semi-skilled plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical repairs
• Willingness to perform janitorial tasks, dependable, initiative and imagination
• Computer experience preferred

• Writes work orders for maintenance and repair jobs
• Assists in the moving, distributing, and transporting of furniture, supplies, and equipment
