Special Education Aide

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team at Winters Elementary School as a Special Education Aide. The successful candidate will support students with diverse learning needs in a positive, inclusive environment. This full-time position involves working closely with teachers and other staff to ensure that students receive the assistance they require to thrive academically and socially.

• Responsibilities
• Assist special education teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting instructional materials to meet the needs of students.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with disabilities in various subjects and activities.
• Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
• Help create a supportive and engaging classroom environment that encourages students to participate and succeed.
• Assist with the management of classroom activities, including organization, transitions, and maintaining a safe learning space.
• Collaborate with other educational professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, to support students' needs.
• Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education practices.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and adhere to school policies and procedures.

• Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in special education or a related field is preferred.
• Previous experience working with students with disabilities or in an educational setting is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from teachers and administrators.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
• Must pass background checks as required by school district policies.
