Indeed is the largest job board there is, and for a district the honest comparison is not about price. Indeed may well cost you less than us on a given role, or several times more, because sponsored postings are an auction: you set a daily or monthly budget from $5 a day or $150 a month, and you are charged per click or per started application until you pause it. EduJobs charges a fixed price you know in advance: 3 postings free, $79 for one, $990 for 25. Most districts end up using both. The question is which one you can put on a purchase order and take to a board meeting.
you have budget flexibility, someone to watch the spend, and you want the largest possible audience on a role you are struggling to fill.
you need a number before you commit, you buy on a purchase order, or you want K-12 candidates rather than everyone.
Everything in the Indeed column comes from their own published pages, quoted or closely paraphrased.
| Criterion | Indeed | EduJobs |
|---|---|---|
| Cost and terms | ||
| Price known in advance | No. "Indeed provides a recommended budget" based on the role and location. | Yes, every price is published |
| One posting | Free tier available, or sponsored from $5 a day / $150 a month | $79, runs 60 days |
| What you are charged for | Per click on daily budgets, or per started application on monthly budgets | The posting. Clicks and applications are not metered. |
| Free postings | Yes, but jobs from a careers page, a data feed or an applicant system may be "sponsored only", and Indeed "reserves the right to require that a job must be sponsored for any reason". | 3 postings, no conditions |
| Renewal | The budget "will automatically renew" each period until you pause or close the job | A posting ends when its term ends. Nothing auto-renews. |
| Billing | Billed on the 1st of the month, or when the account reaches $500, whichever comes first | Card, or a purchase order invoiced net 30 with a W-9 |
| Contract | "No long-term contracts" | None on postings and packs; 12 months only on Unlimited |
| Reaching candidates | ||
| Audience | General jobs marketplace across every industry | K-12 only, searchable by district, campus and role type |
| Where candidates apply | On Indeed, or into your applicant system via Indeed Apply | Your applicant system, your website, an email address, or here |
Written before anything about us, because a page that misdescribes the tool you use every day is not worth reading.
Indeed is the largest job marketplace in the country across every industry. For a vacancy that is genuinely hard to fill, no K-12 board matches the number of people who will see it.
Many jobs can be posted free, subject to their terms and usage limits. For a district testing whether a role gets traction, that is a real option.
You choose a daily or monthly amount, can change it from the dashboard, and can pause a job at any time. Their page states there are no long-term contracts.
Indeed Apply lets candidates apply to jobs held in your applicant system without leaving Indeed. EduJobs can also route applications into the system you already run.
These are design choices, and each one costs us something.
District purchasing works on a figure agreed in advance, and an auction bid is not that. A posting here costs what the page says it costs, before you commit and after.
Indeed states that jobs published from an applicant system, an XML feed or a careers page may be sponsored-only, and that it may require sponsoring for any reason. That describes how most districts publish. Our free postings carry no equivalent condition.
An Indeed budget renews each period until someone pauses it, and billing triggers at month end or $500 of spend. A posting here ends when its term ends, and an unused credit sits until you use it.
Roles carry the district, the campus and the role type, and pay is shown wherever you state it. A general marketplace has to treat a paraprofessional vacancy like any other listing.
There is no per-posting price. Free postings exist with limited features and conditions. Sponsored postings start at $5 a day or $150 a month and "may be higher based on role, title, and location"; you are charged per click on a daily budget or per started application on a monthly one, billed at month end or once spend reaches $500.
Card or purchase order. Charters and private schools pay the same. Unlimited runs on a 12-month term, and above 100,000 students we quote.
This is not an either-or, and we would not pretend otherwise. Most districts that use us also post the hardest roles to Indeed, because reach is reach. The useful split is that Indeed is where you spend money to solve one stubborn vacancy, and a board like ours is where the other forty roles live at a price that does not move.
If you are already sponsoring on Indeed, the thing worth checking is what a filled role actually cost you last year, per hire rather than per click. That is the number to put next to a fixed posting price, and it is usually the first time anyone in the business office has seen it.
reach is the whole problem and you can manage an open-ended budget. No K-12 board reaches as many people, and for a genuinely hard vacancy that can be worth the uncertainty. It needs someone checking the spend, because the budget renews until it is paused.
you need to know the cost before you spend it. $79 is $79 whatever happens next, it goes on a purchase order, and nothing renews on its own. Worth knowing before you rely on free Indeed posts: Indeed says jobs published from an applicant system or a careers-page feed may be sponsored-only, which is exactly how most districts publish. Your first 3 postings here are free with no such condition.
