About this role

Works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Dean of the College of Education:

  • Provides academic program-specific advisement to traditional, transfer, and non-traditional (adult) undergraduate teacher candidates in the College of Education regarding course requirements, transfer articulation, and academic progress; assists undergraduate teacher candidates with course selection and sequencing based on existing plans of study; determines eligibility and satisfactory progress toward degree completion; and communicates academic progress and findings to university administration to ensure compliance with financial aid and athletic requirements.
  • Develops individual student action plan to achieve academic goals, career objectives, and personal growth; evaluates transcripts to determine student eligibility and progress; assists students with academic petitions and graduation applications; maintains and manages student academic files in accordance with recognized protocols; follows rules and regulations applicable for FERPA, Title IX, etc. compliance.
  • Effectively uses institutional technological systems such as Banner, CAPP, Early Alert Warning Systems, and other Web based software, etc.
  • Provides referral services for students to appropriate campus resources for assistance, study skills, tutoring, counseling, etc.
  • Provides academic program-specific advisement to students regarding admissions policies/procedures and general academic program requirements; describes courses; and disseminates information regarding registration procedures.
  • Provides information and/or advises students on financial assistance, student work programs, and/or scholarships available in the university; prepares and leads the facilitation of new student orientation.
  • Prepares and produces statistical reports and other formal records in accordance with applicable laws and procedures; reviews and recommends record management and other academic processing procedures.
  • Attends all academic advisor training workshops as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
