Director of Compliance and Risk Management

The Director of Compliance & Risk Management works collaboratively with university departments to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, university policies, and best practices in higher education.

1. University Compliance Programming

• Develop, implement, and maintain a robust institution-wide compliance program.
• Provide training and education to faculty, staff, and leadership on compliance-related matters.
• Maintain a compliance calendar to track and manage institutional deadlines.

2. Mandatory Training Development and Oversight

• Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of a university-wide compliance with mandatory training completion (e.g., Cyber Security).
• Monitor participation and completion rates, following up with departments and units as needed.
• Strategize with department leads to develop initiatives to encourage mandatory training completion.

3. Insurance Management and Claims Oversight

• Manage the university’s insurance program, including property, liability, cyber, and professional liability policies.
• Coordinate insurance renewals, premium payments, and claims processing in collaboration with insurance brokers.
• Maintain insurance certificates and serve as a campus resource on insurance-related matters.
• Manage the university procurement process for ensuring timely processing and payment.
• Compile, develop and submit mandatory reporting including quarterly Bordereau report.
• Manage the submission of insurance claims on behalf of the university.

4. External Audit Coordination

• Coordinate with the Chief Internal Auditor to identify, compile and submit audit required documentation and data requests.
• Collaborate with Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Student Affairs, and other departments to ensure accurate and complete audit responses.
• Monitor audit findings and support corrective action plans and implementation.

5. Risk Management and Mitigation

• Assist in the development and implementation of risk management strategies aligned with institutional goals.
• Support crisis management and emergency response planning in coordination with campus safety teams.
• Advise university leadership on emerging compliance and risk issues.
