Custodian - Student Affairs (52949)

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and sterile environment for assigned areas. This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement upon completion of probationary period.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Wash windows, restrooms and kitchenettes, employee lounges, porches, entryways, walls, doors, and windows as needed.
• Vacuums, sweeps, and empties trash receptacles.

- Cleans fixtures, blinds, pictures, shelves, drapes and ashtrays.

- Wash windows, restrooms and kitchenettes, employee lounges, porches, entryways, walls, doors, and windows as needed.

- Move furniture.

- Refills toilet supplies in restrooms and hand sanitizer units as needed.

- Shampoo carpets, strips and waxes floors, as required.

- Shovels snow in entryways as required.

- Mop floors on a regular basis.

- Serves on an on-call list to assist with emergency cleanups.

- Maintain regular attendance.

- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

- EDUCATION: High School Diploma .

- EXPERIENCE: None.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

- Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, holidays, odd hours, and emergency calls.

- Must be able to speak and write in English.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

- Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instruction.

- Knowledge in properly handling hazardous chemicals and materials.

- Knowledge in proper cleaning techniques.

- Ability to use a ladder and operate cleaning equipment (burnishes, buffers, etc.).

- Knowledge of safety procedures.

- Ability to read and write effectively.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- Lifting 0 to 50 pounds – Frequently

- Lifting greater than fifty (50) pounds – Occasionally

- Standing – Frequently
