Description

The Learning Resources Assistant I helps to maintain a customer-service-oriented academic support environment. This position performs basic clerical duties and operational support, and provides student/faculty assistance in a large, busy learning resources center (library, tutoring, or testing area).

Essential Functions/Duties

  • Works with Learning Resources staff to support library, tutoring, or testing operations.
  • Assists with a variety of daily administrative and operational matters, including:
  • Opening/closing
  • Records/clerical activities
  • Data entry
  • Outreach/promotion
  • College hardware and software resources
  • Special projects
  • Provides Learning Resources service and assistance to students, staff, and faculty in person, through email, video, or via telephone.
  • Activities and responsibilities vary with specific areas of Learning Resources.
  • Essential Functions/Duties – Library Areas Specific
  • Assist students, staff, and faculty with library circulation operations including book check in/out, course reserves, and interlibrary loan services.
  • Performs both public and technical library services basic daily tasks including shelving, processing, customer service, and area upkeep.
  • Participates in outreach and events.
  • Provides direction for OPS personnel.
  • Troubleshoots technology.
  • Essential Functions/Duties – Tutoring & Testing Center Areas Specific
  • Assists Tutor and Testing Specialists in daily operations and projects.
  • Works with department-specific software that provides support and service to students, staff, and faculty.
  • Administer and monitor testing for courses, accommodations, college placement, and certification.
  • Actively proctor testers in-person and via electronic surveillance.
  • Train and acquire certifications as needed.
  • Consulting Tasks:
  • Consult with students, staff, and faculty.
  • Other consulting tasks based on program or project needs.

  • Required Skills:
  • Excellent customer service and human relations skills.
  • Experience with basic office technology, computers, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

  • Good organizational skills, with special attention to detail.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others.

  • Working Conditions:
  • Shifts may cover evening hours and weekend hours as needed.
  • Must be able to work proficiently in a busy, multi-office environment.
  • Must be flexible and be able to adapt to change.
  • The selected candidate will be required to complete initial training at the Winter Haven campus before reporting to their assigned work location.
  • Salary and Bene?ts Information:
  • This position is level C14.

  • Required Experience:
