Program Assistant- Campus Outdoor Programs and Sustainability

Examples of Duties

-Assists the Coordinator of Campus Outdoor Programs and Sustainability with all Sustainability Programs for campus entities. This includes program design, risk management, budgeting, staff training and development, the creation of standard operating procedures. Program oversight includes, but isn't limited to, Feeding Our Community, Pumpkin Smash, and Give Before You Go, as well as campus events, tabling, and retreats.-Assist the Coordinator of Campus Outdoor Programs and Sustainability in supervising and training all SIUC student staff. Staff will responsible for programs operated through the Office of Sustainability, the SIU Student Center, and Touch of Nature-Oversee the day to day management of the Office of Sustainability, located in the student Center.-Oversee the Green Fund Grant, including awarding of the grant, tracking grant and project status, and reporting-Oversee and tracking eligibility for the Environmental Ambassador Award-Work independently as well as in a team.-Work of varied schedule of days, weekends, and evenings.-Work outside in all kinds of weather and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.-Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, or related fields and 1 year demonstrated experience.

Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.

About Civil Service Examination/Testing: The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of application materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, your application will move forward for examination/testing in which you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score.
