Job Summary:
This position will be focused on providing highly skilled office support for one academic department focused on departmental and student service. Includes supporting departmental functions such as business services, communication, and record keeping; and supporting student retention initiatives including coordinating advising and supporting faculty in the implementation of student focused high impact practices

Abilities:
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to learn new tasks including software and business processes.
- Ability to provide customer service to students with support and problem solving.
Physical Requirements:
- This position typically works in an office environment, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while using a computer.
- The role demands frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
- Visual acuity is essential for reading and interpreting data on computer screens.
- Clear verbal communication skills are necessary for interacting with colleagues, students and employees.
- Additionally, the job may involve occasional mobility around the office and attending meetings, as well as some travel to attend off-site meetings and trainings.
Working Conditions:
Regular office working conditions in a single or multi-story building.
Essential Job Functions (Order from most to least performed duties. Percentage of time allocation should equal 100%) | ALLOCATION %
- Serving as the primary point of contact for the department, including student customer service, scheduling student advising appointments, public facing communication within the office, supporting website and social media. 30%
- Preparing various forms including academic, student, and human resources forms. 15%
- Preparing academic and student reports for the department chair. 15%
- Preforming departmental business services such as travel and purchasing. 15%
- Providing administrative support to faculty for experiential class activities such as field trips and for student focused high impact practices out of the classroom. 10%
- Coordinate with the Department Chair on producing and ordering recruiting materials 10%
- Maintain Departmental records 5%
Other duties may be assigned to this position on a regular or occasional basis to respond to the needs of the university.

This position is classified as Security-Sensitive and is thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094, which authorize employers to obtain and review criminal history record information for applicants.
