Varsity Baseball Coach

SPRING 2027

Spring Season - Start Date: March 8, 2027

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Alden Central School District is seeking a student-centered, organized, and highly motivated individual to serve as Varsity Baseball Head Coach. The successful candidate will provide leadership for the baseball program while promoting the values of Alden Athletics, including sportsmanship, teamwork, communication, personal responsibility, growth, and excellence.

Responsibilities and Expectations

The Varsity Baseball Head Coach will:

• Plan, organize, and supervise practices, contests, team activities, and appropriate offseason opportunities.
• Teach baseball fundamentals, strategy, rules, sportsmanship, and safe playing techniques.
• Establish a positive team culture built on accountability, respect, effort, discipline, teamwork, and character development.
• Serve as a positive role model and represent Alden Central School District professionally at all times.
• Maintain consistent and professional communication with student-athletes, families, assistant coaches, and the Athletic Department.
• Communicate schedules, expectations, team procedures, changes, and other important information in a timely manner through district-approved platforms.
• Maintain regular communication with the Athletic Director regarding student-athlete concerns, personnel, scheduling, facilities, equipment, safety issues, and overall program needs.
• Work collaboratively with JV and Modified coaches to promote continuity, consistent expectations, and long-term development throughout the baseball program.
• Support the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of student-athletes and reinforce appropriate school attendance, behavior, and citizenship.
• Encourage participation in multiple sports and support collaboration among Alden coaches and programs.
• Provide appropriate supervision of student-athletes before, during, and after practices and contests.
• Follow all Alden CSD, NYSED, NYSPHSAA, Section VI, ECIC, safety, eligibility, concussion, and emergency procedures.
• Work cooperatively with athletic training and school health personnel regarding injuries, medical restrictions, and return-to-play requirements.
• Complete required rosters, attendance, inventories, evaluations, awards information, and Athletic Department documentation accurately and on time.
• Maintain proper care, distribution, collection, and storage of uniforms, equipment, and program supplies, and promptly communicate facility or equipment needs.
• Follow district procedures related to transportation, purchasing, fundraising, booster involvement, and use of district resources.
• Maintain all required New York State coaching certifications, First Aid/CPR/AED credentials, trainings, clearances, and other requirements associated with the position.
• Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, sound judgment, confidentiality, and a willingness to accept feedback and direction from the Athletic Department and administration.
• Build a baseball program that develops student-athletes as competitors, teammates, leaders, and members of the Alden school community.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous successful baseball coaching experience is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate strong knowledge of the sport, effective leadership and organizational skills, and the ability to communicate positively and professionally with students, families, coaches, and school personnel.

Appointment is contingent upon meeting all applicable New York State Education Department requirements and Board of Education approval.
