Paraprofessional Emergency Substitute

I. General Description:

In the absence of the classroom teacher, the paraprofessional provides instruction, encourages student progress, and manages the learning environment as assigned

II. Qualifications:

• Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion para educator assessment, 60 college credits (100 level or higher), or an Associate's degree
• Must possess a valid AZ substitute teaching certificate
• Prior experience working with children is (preferred)
• Must possess a Valid AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card
• General clerical experience (preferred)
• Must be able to push, pull, or lift weights of at least 30 pounds
• Must be proficient in the use of the English language, both verbal and written (preferred)

III. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Follows professional practices consistent with the school district policies in working with Students, parents, and staff
• Maintains a discipline and classroom that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with district policies
• Ensures adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students
• Reports to office upon arrival at school; checks mailboxes of absent teacher for materials requiring immediate attention; obtain duty schedules; requests clarification of school rules and procedures
• Implement lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner that motivates students to learn and participate
• Reports all students injuries, accidents, illness, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as s reasonably possible.
• Acts in a professional manner
• Performs other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school/district policies

Reports To: School site administrator
Calendar: 10 Months; 29.5hrs/week
