3rd Grade Instructional Aide

Bensenville School District 2 is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 3rd Grade Instructional Aide to join our team at Tioga Elementary School. In this role, you will work closely with the classroom teacher and support staff to provide instructional and classroom assistance to third-grade students, helping them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally in a supportive and engaging learning environment. Description:

The 3rd Grade Instructional Aide will assist in a classroom setting under the supervision of a certified instructor. The aide will support the teacher with instructional activities, student supervision, classroom routines, and other responsibilities that contribute to a positive and productive learning environment.

Other duties as assigned may include supervision of areas such as classrooms, washrooms, playgrounds, before and after school activities, cafeteria, library, hallways, and other instructional settings as determined by administration.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist the classroom teacher with the daily instructional program and classroom activities.
• Provide instructional support to individual students or small groups as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with the preparation and organization of instructional materials.
• Assist with the supervision, escorting, and support of students as directed.
• Reinforce classroom expectations, routines, and positive student behavior.
• Assist the teacher with maintaining accurate records related to student progress and classroom activities.
• Support students in developing positive academic and social skills.
• Participate in staff development activities as directed by contract.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned by administration.
• Bilingual preferred.

Hours

35 hours a week, 7 hours a day – Elementary Schools
8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with a 30-minute duty-free lunch

Qualifications:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students
• Basic computer knowledge
• Experience working with elementary-age students preferred

• Ability to read and communicate effectively with employees and students of the district.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, visual, and verbal form.
• Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel, or operate objects or controls, and reaching with hands and arms.
• Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 20 pounds.
