JOB TITLE: SUB BUS DRIVER

FLSA-NON-EXEMPT HOURLY POSITION

10 MONTHS PER YEAR

TITLE: Sub Bus Driver

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and a valid Arizona School Bus Driver’s Certificate.
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
  • Able to pass background, physical, agility and drug tests as required.
  • Able to pass CPR and First Aid training classes.
  • Ability to complete training course and pass driving test prior to certification.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with students and co-workers.
  • HS Diploma or GED

REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor

JOB GOAL: To provide safe and efficient transportation of students as they participate in the district’s regular and extra-curricular programs.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Obeys all traffic laws.
  • Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
  • Supervises student conduct to maintain safe control of the vehicle.
  • Reports student misconduct according to established procedures.
  • Keeps assigned bus clean.
  • Maintains assigned schedule on routes.
  • Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects according to district procedures.
  • Notifies proper authorities in case of mechanical failure or delays in scheduled deliveries or pickups.
  • Discharges students only at authorized stops.
  • Checks bus for students after each run.
  • Exercises responsible behavior and leadership at all times.
  • Transports only authorized students.
  • Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
  • Submits all required paperwork in a prompt and efficient manner.
  • Attends all meetings as required by the district.
  • Conducts required drills.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

TERMS OF EMPLOYEMENT: Salary established by the Governing Board. Employee benefits in accordance with district policies.

EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the Governing Board's policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
