Cambridge City Schools is seeking dedicated family and community members to serve as Volunteers in support of students, staff, and school programs. Volunteers play an important role in enhancing educational experiences and strengthening school-community partnerships.

Position Summary

School volunteers assist staff and students in a variety of educational, extracurricular, and support activities. Volunteer assignments may include classroom support, mentoring, library assistance, athletic and event support, field trips, music and arts programs, and other school-related activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists teachers and staff with classroom and school activities
• Supports student learning and engagement under staff supervision
• Helps with school events, athletic programs, field trips, and extracurricular activities
• Serves as mentors, reading buddies, or tutors when appropriate
• Promotes a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment
• Maintains confidentiality regarding students and district information
• Follows all district policies, procedures, and volunteer guidelines
• Completes required background checks and training prior to service

Qualifications

• Interest in supporting students and schools
• Ability to work cooperatively with students, staff, and community members
• Possess the following traits - dependability, professionalism, and a positive attitude
• Displays strong communications and interpersonal skills
• Must successfully complete all required background checks in accordance with Ohio law and district policy

Terms of Service

A BCI Background check must be completed, returned showing no convictions, and/or approved by the Superintendent and School Board before to any Volunteer time is authorized.

Volunteer assignments may be short-term, seasonal, or annual. Volunteers are unpaid and are not considered employees of the district.

Interested individuals should complete a Frontline volunteer application for each school building or program for which they are interested. Selected volunteers may be required to attend orientation or training prior to beginning service.
