GENERAL STATEMENT
OF JOB:
The Dutchess BOCES Adult Learning Institute is looking for enthusiastic and nurturing instructors for adults returning to the classroom with the goal of obtaining a New York High School Equivalency Diploma (GED).

• COMPETENCIES:
• Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree K-12 Permanent Certification preferred, but not required. If no teaching certification, must be eligible and willing to apply for NY Adult Education Certification within 6 months of start date.
• The ideal candidate will have experience working with adults of varied socioeconomic, cultural, educational, and/or differently-abled backgrounds, particularly in an educational setting.
• Must be confident teaching high school math and language skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
AND ABILITIES
DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Job duties include creating individualized lesson plans, public outreach, student communication, progress and attendance tracking, and assessment administration.
• Classes hours vary, depending on location but typically run 3 hours a day, 2-4 days a week, for a total of 6-9 hours weekly. Potential classroom instructors must be able to commit to a set weekly schedule, although applicants for substitute teachers on an as-needed basis are welcome!
• Classes are open entry and in person. Students are 18 and older.

EVALUATION: Program Coordinator
SALARY: $25 per hour
