Part Time Food Service Helper - 2026-2027 School Year

Hours:
3.25 - 5.25 hours per day

Martha Brown Middle School:
11 am - 2:15 pm

Johanna Perrin Middle School :
11 am - 2:15 pm

Fairport High School:
9 am - 2:15 pm
9:15 am - 2:15 pm
10:45 am - 2:30 pm

Northside/Dudley Elementary:
9:15 am -1:30 pm

Salary:
$17.10/hour

Nature of Work:

• General kitchen work including but not limited to preparation of foods, dishing/portioning of foods, set up of serving lines, cashing, serving, and clean up of serving lines, and kitchen areas including washing pots and pans.
• Participates in the maintenance of acceptable health, safety and sanitary practices as required by various regulatory agencies. Participates in the care and safe operation of the equipment assigned to the School Food Service program.
• Assists with cleaning of ranges, ovens, refrigerators, freezers, and other food service equipment as directed.

Job Requirements:
Must be able to do the following:

• Sufficient communication skills, manual dexterity and ability to perform food service skills under time constraints without close supervision
• Safely operate, clean, and maintain utensils and equipment used in a school kitchen;
• Follow written recipes and menus as provided;
• Adhere to sanitation requirements in the handling and preparation of food;
• Use approved chemicals safely and according to directions on container;
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, parents, and other staff members.
• Sufficient cash handling skills to function as a cashier and operate a cash register
• Adequate stamina necessary to perform the physical requirements of the job including: standing on hard floors for long periods while performing duties; lifting maximum of 30 lbs. without assistance from others; bending over to wipe spills or pick up items from floor; withstanding extremes in kitchen temperature and humidity; washing pots and pans over deep sinks using detergents that may be more caustic than those used as home; sweeping floors.
