Long Term Substitute- Spanish and Multilingual Middle School Teacher

Position Overview

Fox River Grove School District 3 is seeking a qualified, Spanish-fluent Long-Term Substitute Teacher to deliver Spanish language instruction for students in Grades 6-8 and provide targeted English language support for Multilingual Learners (ML/ELL) in Grades 5-8. The anticipated start date is January 4, 2027.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Language Skills: Fluency in Spanish (spoken, reading, and written) is strongly preferred.
• Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Education, Spanish, ESL, or a related field.
• Licensure: Valid Illinois State Educator License (PEL) or Substitute Teaching License.

Primary Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned Spanish language lessons for grades 6-8 and structured ML support/service delivery for grades 5-8.
• Adapt course materials, implement language-acquisition strategies, and accommodate varying proficiency levels to support all learners.
• Maintain an inclusive, safe, and academically rigorous learning environment that honors diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
• Formative and informative assessment used to track language growth and provide actionable feedback.
• Communicate regularly in Spanish and English with families regarding academic progress and collaborate with classroom teachers and elementary ML teacher.
• Complete daily attendance, maintain records, utilize classroom technology, and fulfill standard supervisory duties as assigned.

Additional Duties

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment

Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy machines, and telephone.

Travel Requirements

Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Salary:

$140 per day. On the 16th consecutive day of continued employment, pay rate is $180 per day.
