Nutrition Worker

Primary Purpose

Prepare and serve food in appropriate quantities while maintaining high standards of food quality, sanitation, safety, and customer service in support of district child nutrition operations.

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Ability to understand written and verbal food preparation and safety instructions
• Working knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment and tools safely
• Ability to perform basic math and cashiering functions
• Ability to maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards
• Ability to work cooperatively with staff and students

Experience

• Food service or cafeteria experience preferred.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Food Preparation and Service

• Prepare food according to menus, recipes, and district procedures
• Serve food according to meal schedules and portion control standards
• Store and handle food items and supplies safely and appropriately
• Maintain organized and clean storage and serving areas
• Assist with receiving and stocking deliveries and supplies

Safety and Sanitation

• Operate kitchen tools and equipment according to safety standards
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, serving, and work areas
• Maintain garbage collection and disposal areas in sanitary condition
• Correct unsafe conditions when possible and report concerns promptly
• Maintain appropriate personal appearance and hygiene standards

Operational Support and Compliance

• Handle cashiering functions and meal accountability procedures accurately
• Maintain required food preparation and operational records
• Support teamwork and positive interaction with fellow staff members
• Complete required training and continuing education requirements
• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
