Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Fiscal Leadership: Develop and administer the district’s annual budget, ensuring strict alignment with our academic and operational goals.
  • NYS Compliance & Operations: Oversee all business office operations, including accounting, payroll, purchasing, state aid tracking, and long-range capital planning, adhering fully to NYS Education Department regulations and OSC guidelines.
  • Operational Oversight: Provide leadership and fiscal guidance for critical non-instructional operations, ensuring excellent standards across facilities, transportation, and food services.
  • Collaborative Communication: Present clear, accessible financial data to the Board of Education and the public, building strong community backing for district initiatives.

  • NYS Certification as a School Business Administrator (SBA), or School District Business Leader (SDBL); or eligibility for Civil Service appointment as a School Business Manager.
  • Proven expertise in school finance, fund accounting, State Aid forecasting, and contract negotiations.
  • An approachable, transparent communicator who values teamwork and community engagement.
  • Demonstrated understanding of or experience supervising district-wide financial operations, including:
  • Cash management, debt management, and investment practices
  • Purchasing systems and fiscal oversight and accountability
  • Food service, student transportation, and buildings and grounds programs
  • Strong working knowledge of New York State aid formulas and completion of required State financial reports, including year-end State Aide Claim reports and the ST-3.
  • Knowledge of Comptroller’s regulations regarding Uniform System of Accounting
  • Knowledge of payroll practices and wage and hour law
  • Comprehensive technology skills, including proficiency with financial management systems and data analysis tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong collaboration and interpersonal skills; teamwork, facilitation, and team-building skills
