ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

OBJECTIVE: To assist and support efficient and effective operations of the school office.
CLASSIFICATION: Classified

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma, Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Computer skills

Written and oral fluency in English and Spanish (preferred)

Additional qualifications as set by the Board of Education

REPORTS TO: Principal

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains a positive attitude about the school and District.
  • Supports and contributes to a warm and welcoming school office climate.
  • Follows the Code of Conduct and Personnel Guidelines as stated in the Classified Employee Handbook.
  • Practices and maintains confidentiality in all situations.
  • Assist and support the daily operations of a school office: answering phone calls, attendance, welcoming parents, answering questions, arrival and departure of students, acknowledge deliveries to the school, etc...
  • To support D76 students, families and staff members by providing a professional Spanish and English bilingual experience.
  • Maintains a daily teacher attendance log and substitute record log.
  • Assists in processing changes and adjustments with student schedules.
  • Maintains a log of visitors to the school and verifies visitation through raptor system.
  • Maintains records of petty cash and all cash received.
  • Maintains all attendance records for all students.
  • Arranges for substitute teacher coverage.
  • Maintains and monitors State Reports.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Assistant Principal.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work year, salary and fringe benefits to be established by the Board of Education
WORK YEAR: 11 months.

EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated by the principal and/or superintendent in accordance with state guidelines.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS: In the course of performing the duties and functions job holder will be required to stand, walk, sit, squat/stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach and lift items of varying weights and up to 40 pounds. Ability to communicate (vision, hearing and speech) is required. Ability to travel to assigned work locations without employer support.

Must be able to express ideas, interpret situations, and problem solve. Must be able to interact positively and effectively with individuals with diverse learning needs and abilities. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to use various forms of classroom equipment and technology resources (computer, document camera, copy machines, projectors, etc.), computer applications and related peripherals.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: School building environment. Travel throughout the District may be required. Typical settings include school buildings with classrooms, offices, health suites, gymnasium, cafeteria, auditorium, and recreational areas.
