Part-Time Meal Service Aide

THE ROLE

LEAD Charter School seeks an exceptional Part-Time Meal Service Aide to join our mission-driven community. Our goal is to transform equity through opportunities for young people in Newark. The Meal Service Aide will play a pivotal part in ensuring the successful management and execution of the school’s federal food service program.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• High School Diploma Required, Associate’s Degree Preferred
• Current Servsafe certification
• Demonstrated knowledge of principles of nutrition, food preparation, health and safety regulations, and federal and state guidelines governing school food services programs
• Ability to work with a diverse, multicultural staff and students.
• Commitment to school model and implementation with fidelity
• Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively and prioritize strategically
• Prior experience working in schools and/or urban communities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including use of necessary software/technology.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Management of Food Service Program:

• Knowledge of principles of nutrition, food preparation, health and safety regulations, and federal and state guidelines governing school food services programs.
• Assumes responsibility for the operation of the school’s food services program in accordance with board policies and local, state/federal requirements.
• Determines eligibility status for free, reduced, and paid applicants.
• Set up and serve meals to students.
• Maintain a clean work environment and serving area.
• Attends all workshops & required training pertaining to the Child Nutrition Program.
• Carry out additional duties and tasks as assigned.

Compliance and Reporting:

• Stay informed about federal regulations related to school meal programs (e.g., National School Food Program) and ensure full compliance.
• Support the state reporting and auditing process for student enrollment
• Prepare and submit required reports, documentation, and claims accurately and on time.

Data Entry and Record Keeping:

• Accurately input data into various systems, databases, and spreadsheets.
• Collects, tracks, and organizes food service data to ensure daily, weekly, and monthly reports to key stakeholders
• Maintain confidentiality and ensure data security at all times.

Customer Service:

• Providing a welcoming and supportive environment for students, parents, and visitors.
• Addressing inquiries, concerns, and requests promptly and professionally.
• Assist with miscellaneous tasks and projects as assigned by the operations manager or administrative leadership.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Part-Time 12-month employee.
• Salary to be recommended by HR and approved by the board.

EVALUATION

• Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the board's policy on evaluation.
